On May 17 to 21, our team traveled to Istanbul for a professional training program organized by our esteemed partner, Spectrum Medical, ahead of the arrival of our first fully loaded perfusion system – the Quantum Heart Perfusion system. The training was built around our perfusionist who will be working with this technology firsthand, and it was nothing short of inspiring.
Inside the ACIBADEM Hospitals
We had the privilege of visiting several branches of the prestigious ACIBADEM private hospital network – a benchmark for excellence in cardiac surgery. The operating theaters were equipped at the highest level: Getting OR Tables and Pendants , advanced Robotic surgical systems, and the Spectrum Quantum fully integrated with the Quantum Ventilation System (QVM) and Mr. Frosty Heater Cooler unit. Every detail reflects a relentless commitment to patient safety.
Witnessing the Quantum in Action
We observed live cardiac surgeries with the Quantum running at full capacity — monitoring patients in real time, detecting deviations before they become risks. A powerful reminder that patient safety must always come first.
The Quantum is a fully integrated, intelligent perfusion platform that redefines the standard in cardiac surgery:
- Quantum Workstation – 15″ touchscreen managing perfusion, ventilation, cardioplegia, and real-time monitoring simultaneously, with seamless HL7 hospital network integration.
- Quantum Ventilation System (QVM) – a world-first solution for managing extracorporeal patient ventilation. The QVM delivers precision-regulated FiO₂ and CO₂, manages vacuum, and provides integrated patient safety systems, perfusion diagnostics, delivered anaesthesia gas concentration, and a calculated MAC value. Using its patented PaO₂ and PaCO₂ measurement technologies, it provides decision support and auto-regulation of gas flows and concentrations. It continuously monitors: incoming supply pressures of Air, O₂, CO₂ and vacuum channels; O₂ and CO₂ gas concentrations and pressures to the oxygenator; overall gas flow to the oxygenator (SWEEP); and CO₂ concentrations from the WAG line. Integrated within the QVM is Spectrum Medical’s full range of Non-Invasive Diagnostic and Calculated Physiologic Measurements, including Flow (with bubble detection), Pressure, Temperature, and Reservoir Level Management.
